Ibanez heading to Philly

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly filled a void in left field by agreeing to terms with Raul Ibanez.

Philly.com and FOX Sports reported on its websites Friday that the deal for the former Seattle Mariner is worth $30 million for three years.

Ibanez played all 162 games last season for Seattle and batted .293 with 43 doubles, 23 home runs and 110 runs batted in.

The 36-year-old veteran spent the past five years with the Mariners, driving in at least 100 runs each of the last three seasons, and broke into the majors with Seattle 1996. He played parts of his first five big league seasons with the Mariners before heading to Kansas City in 2001.

After three years with the Royals, during which time he developed into a consistent run producer, Ibanez went back to the Mariners in 2004.

The Mets, Cubs and Angels were also said to be interested in Ibanez, who is expected to take over the left field position held for most of the past eight years by Pat Burrell.
