Kanon Wakeshima's Debut Album - Shinshoku Dolce

Kanon Wakeshima just released her debut album in France and Germany (it will be released a bit later in Japan!). The album is entitled Shinshoku Dolce and is produced by Mana from Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Mois. It features her 2 ED songs from Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty. Kanon performed at a special showcase here in Paris on the 11th of February and then did a free concert the 12th!! I'm so sad I missed it...

8/10 If you're a fervent reader of this blog, you probably know how much I adored her two Vampire Knight theme songs, Still Doll and Suna no Oshiro. So it comes as no surprise that I have been waiting for this album for quite a while now. I was so happy to get my hands on it even after reading not so great reviews (such as this one). My overall impression is on the contrary a very good one... How can you go wrong with such a talented artist? She not only has a beautiful voice, but is also a skilled cello player (just like my sister, hehe). It's so rare to have a young J-Pop singer who plays the cello!

Mana's gothic and mysterious style is a great addition to Kanon's talent. A lot of the tracks on the album feature haunting melodies with amazing vocals. Beautiful string arrangements can be heard in almost every song and they feature not only a cello but also violins... There's even a beautiful song sung entirely in french called L'espoir, even though I couldn't understand a single word she was singing!

I hope you will like the album as much as I did...

Vampire Knight Guilty ED single is out!

10/10 The ED single for Vampire Knight Guilty, Suna no Oshiro by Kanon Wakeshima is finally out! As I previously mentioned (here), this song is really amazing! I fell in love with it the first time I heard it!


It is the second single release from cellist and vocalist Kanon Wakeshima produced by Mana-sama of Malice Mizer and Moi dix Mois. Lyrics and cello score by Wakeshima with music composed by Mana-sama .

New OP by ON OFF - Vampire Knight Guilty

I've been talking a lot about the new ED for Vampire Knight Guilty by Kanon Wakeshima which totally blew me off. But I haven't forgotten the OP for Vampire Knight Guilty by ON OFF called Rondo, the same group that did the first OP for Vampire Knight, which was actually really good.



7.5/10 This time around, I think it has more of a baroque feel to it (the first one was already pretty baroque, so that's saying a lot!), but I still really like it. Especially the piano is amazing in it. I also like the change of pace during the song. I'm sure I'll end up giving it an 8/10.

Full Vampire Knight Guilty ED - Suna No Oshiro by Wakeshima Kanon

I while ago (or was it last week?) I mentioned the new ED for Vampire Knight Guilty (here)which is awesome. And now, I finally have heard the entire song... It has an interesting gothic and dark feel to it. Download it here! UPDATE: Download the full high quality ED Single here.

Kanon is very talented. She's a cellist as well as a singer and has played the cello since she was three years old. I can't wait to listen to her first album!

Creepy ED -Vampire Knight Guilty

9.5/10 Love, love the new ED for Vampire Knight's second season. It really suits the series! Creepy music+creepy voice=Win! What do you think? Can't wait to listen to the entire song.(update: download full song here)
From what I've heard so far for the new anime fall season, this is my favorite ED! Any other suggestions?
