Despite me just writing about the last Yuki Kajiura giveaway (here), I've decided to give you another Yuki Kajiura gift. I think I really like contradicting myself, nothing wrong with that, right? So here it is, the Ultimate Yuki Kajiura gift for all anime musicians and pianists, or even any musicians at all, anime lovers or not...

It's a collection of about 100 piano sheets of tracks Yuki Kajiura did for many animes (there's also a couple of non-kajiuran sheets from Gundam, but they were so good that I chose to leave them there). Not only that, but it also includes many MIDI and .mus files for all the computer enthusiasts... Yuki Kajiura Live DVD Giveaway: Day 10 - Mezame

Song No. 10 from the Yuki Kajiura Live Concert DVD is the song you've all been waiting for... (I hope!) It's the song Mezame from Mai Hime. Oh my, I wanted to actually wait before posting anything about Mezame. What I initially had in mind was to write a special super mega post especially for this song. But I guess this is fine too! One of the reasons I got so interested in anime music is because of Mezame, so you could understand how much I worship this song. Mezame is definitely in my Top 5 songs, anime or otherwise! It is originally sung by Hanae Tomaru.

10.000/10 Sorry about the rating, 10 just wasn't enough for this song... I love it sooo much! I'll try to keep this short. The original version of Mezame is just to die for. The first time I heard it, I thought my heart was going to stop, and I started to feel shivers down my spine. Only a few songs have this effect on me so... Sadly, the live version from the concert DVD wasn't as good as the original song. The beat was kind of off, it wasn't the same techno beat from the original version. Wakana's breathing wasn't really good either, it seems she was quickly out of breath singing those long notes. Tell me what you thought of the live version.

Now we're getting to the really good stuff! Song No. 9 of the special Yuki Kajiura Live Concert DVD is Ensei from the über-awesome anime Mai Hime (run and watch it at once if you haven't already!). Ensei was originally sung by Hanae Tomaru. This version is sung by Wakana (main vocalist) and Keiko, which is actually one half of kalafina! 10/10 Ensei has got to be one of my favorite Yuki Kajiura tracks! I instantly fell in love with it. Given the awesome anime it was in, it actually wasn't that hard! The Mai Hime OSTs even have 6 different versions of that song, so it gets quite prominently featured in the anime. The melody is so sad and haunting... I never get tired of it. Wakana's voice works perfectly for this song, so it's no surprise this was one of the highlights of the concert for me.

My Top 51 best anime soundtracks of all time

Here is my first list. It is all about anime soundtracks. I know a lot of you won't agree on the order, but it also represents the emotions I got from the music while watching these animes. I guess if hadn't watched any of these shows, the order would probably be a lot different. But I think the role of a soundtrack is really important in anime, so in that matter, even if great OSTs stand out on their own, it's still hard to judge them on their own.

Of course it's also not a surprise that some of my favorite shows are included here. My favorite one, Monster is however not included (the Monster soundtrack really sucked!). You will also probably notice that a lot of these soundtracks are from the same composers (Yuki Kajiura, Yoko Kanno or Joe Hisaishi). My favorite soundtrack is from the anime Mai Hime, and the fact alone that it contains the song Mezame (one of my favorite songs ever) is one of the many reasons for it to be in top position. The composer of the Mai Hime OST is of course no other than the great Yuki Kajiura!
