We have all seen inked art pieces that we would describe as girly tattoos. These range from beautiful and striking floral arrangements to cute and cuddly animal portrayals. But, there is no design that is more intrinsically feminine then fruit motifs. Just think of what fruit represents in a girly tattoo. It’s red ripeness instantly brings connotation of sexuality and fertility to our minds. It also represents sweetness and something that is worth working for. And the cherries depicted in this girly tattoo is a perfect examples. The cherry represents not only sexuality but also virginity and chastity. And it’s location right above her genital area further highlights the connection. It’s delicate and delicious fruit heavy on the vine just waiting to be plucked and consumed. Other suitable girly tattoos in this category would be strawberries, peaches and even watermelons. In fact, I think any fruit that is naturally juicy and sweet would make an excellent addition in this category. Another feature that could be added to further enhance the feminine attributes of the tattoo would be a floral design. That would add deeper symbolism to the tattoo. Or, if you really wanted to go all out you could add either beads of water or having the cherries sitting in a pool of water thus enhancing the juicyness of the fruit.
The are many definitions of what constitutes a girly tattoo. Some feel that designs such as the butterfly, fairy and even stars are clear examples of a girly tattoo. This is even true today, though just as many guys wear these designs as young women. Other people believe that the location of the design on the body constitutes whether or not it’s a girly tattoo. This is another false premise because once again guys are sporting their body art on places that were usually considered the domain of the females. These include hips, breast, lower back and even feet. The truth is that there really no tattoos that are purely girly tattoos, just like their are no designs that are strictly masculine. The eagle, grim reaper and skulls were once considered to be squarely in the domain of the masculine. But, ever increasingly women are beginning to wear these designs. And women are also getting tattoos in ways that would usually only be received by men. These include chest pieces, full back piece and forearm tattoos. So, the girly tattoo is quickly becoming the urban myth of the tattoo world. Though there are still tattoos that are beautiful and would look better as a girly tattoo.
