Ryan Phillippe hasn't exactly offered a warm welcome to ex Reese Witherspoon's off-again, on-again guy, Jake Gyllenhaal, according to Us mag. "Ryan is pissed about Jake," a Phillippe insider says, adding that Phillippe told Witherspoon, "he didn't want 'that guy' around their kids and then made some crude Brokeback Mountain remark." However, a Gyllenhaal source told the mag that "Reese doesn't have Jake spend the night when the kids are around." Phillippe is rumored to be dating Aussie actress Abbie Cornish again. "They have been hanging out since June," says a source. The pair were spotted in LA's Franklin Canyon Park on August 5.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal's brief romance is reportedly over. "They just recently broke up," says a source close to Witherspoon. "It's totally and completely over. Reese was the one who had to do it. She just got out of a divorce and was so concerned with her family, she just didn't have the time for him and he really demanded that. They're still friends. Things are fine, but it was a clean break - [with] no chance of getting back together." Reps for Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon have not commented. The pair first hooked up while doing reshoots for the film Rendition. "Jake went and reintroduced himself to Reese," says an insider. "Things slowly progressed, but it was never something she thought would happen from the start. She just kind of developed this little crush over time."

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly mulling a new role - on Broadway. The 26-year-old hottie is considering a part in the political stage drama Farragut North, due to open this fall. Gyllenhaal took part in a private reading of the play last week, which centers around an idealistic communications director making a run for office and is based on 2004 Democratic candidate Howard Dean. According to the New York Times, the play's author Beau Willimon is "a playwright [who] worked on Howard Dean's presidential campaign."

Reese Witherspoon's rumored new guy is none other than Zodiac hottie Jake Gyllenhaal. After getting to know each other on the set of Rendition, the pair have recently taken their friendship to the next level. "In the last month, they've been spending a lot more time together," says a source close to Gyllenhaal. "Jake really likes her and isn't at all concerned that she has two kids." Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal were spotted looking cozy on March 23 at Hollywood's Il Sole restaurant. "They were cuddling," said a fellow diner. "It looked very playful." A week later, Witherspoon was seen picking up takeout at The Clay Pit while Gyllenhaal waited in the car. "When she came back out to the car, he got out and opened the door for her and was shielding his face so no one would see him," said an observer.
