"I'm a Social Outcast by Fate"
Spoiler Warning!! [+/-] Show/Hide Synopsis...

This episode begins with Usui Kagerou lamenting about how he never gets noticed by anyone, when he nearly gets run over by a truck who does not notice him. He runs into Nozomu in the shadows, who begins to talk about how some people are destined to be overshadowed by others, no matter how hard they work. After several humorous examples to illustrate his point, Kafuka brings up the merits of being in the shadows. Meanwhile, Usui continues to be unnoticed by everyone. The second part of the episode has the class undergo criticism training. A strange man enters the class room and begins to launch various insults at the students. Usui continues to be ignored until a divine wind blows away his hair, revealing his bald head and allowing everyone in the class to see him. He fears that people in the class will begin mocking him, but Kafuka suggests that Chie insults him instead, which he seems to enjoy. The episode ends in a parody of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, with various people attacking Nozomu while he is in the shower.

"One Morning, When Gregor Samsa Awoke, He was Carrying a Portable Shrine"
Spoiler Warning!! [+/-] Show/Hide Synopsis...

This episode begins with Fujiyoshi bumping into Nozomu while she is on her way to make copies of her doujinshi for Comiket. Through a misunderstanding in which Nozomu thinks of doujinshi in the literary sense rather than in the manga/anime sense, Nozomu ends up going to Comiket to sell his doujin literature with mixed results. At Comiket, Chiri reads Fujiyoshi's yaoi doujinshi and admonishes her for not adhering to the 4-koma manga format, which she feels is the only one that is acceptable. Chiri forces Fujiyoshi to rewrite her manga in 4-koma format, while following the Kishotenketsu structure. On the way back from Comiket they meet Kafuka, who talks Chiri and Fujiyoshi into drawing more manga that strictly adheres to the above mentioned format. Maria tries to draw a 4-koma manga as well, but doesn't quite get it right. Nozomu introduces a fifth element to the Kishotenketsu structure, Yami (Darkness), which involves adding a fifth panel to the 4-koma manga containing a twist ending. The second half of the episode involves the girls at a matsuri, where overzealous festival-goers begin piling random objects and people on portable shrines and dancing and parading around with them.

"When I Came Out Of The Tunnel It Was White"
Spoiler Warning!! [+/-] Show/Hide Synopsis...

After confiding in his latest despairs to Ms. Arai, she asks Nozomu to visit one of his students who hasn't shown up to school — Kiri Komori, a hikikomori. When he arrives at her house, he meets Kafuka, who joins him in his attempt to reform Kiri, even though her attitude causes her to misunderstand (and complicate) the situation. The next day, Nozomu notes that another of his students, Matoi Tsunetsuki, didn't show up that day; Ms. Arai brings him to the counseling room, where she explains Matoi's obsessive-stalker tendencies. That night, he attempts to dissuade her from bothering her last boyfriend; however, his strategy — suicide as the ultimate form of love — backfires on him, turning him into Matoi's latest object of affection.

About Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

"About Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei"
Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei (Goodbye, Despair Teacher) is a comedy about a teacher who takes all aspects of life, language and culture in the most negative light possible. It is based on manga created by Kōji Kumeta. The anime series first aired in Japan on July 7, 2007 and is set to contain twelve episodes. Each episode ends with a still image drawn by one of the manga artists associated with Kōji Kumeta. The anime is somewhat of a personal triumph for the often self-defeating Kumeta, as his previous manga have never been animated - most recently, his earlier work Katte ni Kaizo was scheduled for an anime release but was cancelled before it aired.

Spoiler Warning!! [+/-] Show/Hide Synopsis...

Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei revolves around a very pessimistic high school teacher named Nozomu Itoshiki who tries to hang himself on a cherry blossom tree. Despite his best efforts, he is saved by a very optimistic girl known as Kafuka Fūra (whose real name is unknown). She explains to him that it is simply unforgiveable to hang himself on a day such a nice day, especially in front of such beautiful trees. She decides to nickname Nozomu, "Pink Supervisor", offering to pay him fifty yen to do so. After having enough of the strange girl, Nozomu bolts to the school and starts his homeroom class, but the attempt was in vain as he finds that the girl is one of his students.
